Bedford Cares Small Business and Nonprofit Support Grant Program
The Bedford County Board of Commissioners have made available a minimum of $500,000 to establish the Bedford Cares Small Business and Nonprofit Support Grant Program.
Funding will be made available to small businesses and nonprofits in the County that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 public health crisis. Grant eligibility requirements and Frequently Asked Questions are being made available on the Bedford County website.
The county is planning to host an online training for businesses and nonprofits to help answer any questions they may have. Details of the online training will be posted on the Bedford County website.
-Only fully completed applications will be considered.
-There is no application fee.
Program Timeline
Friday, August 7, 2020 — Grant Program Announcement and information release.
Monday, August 10, 2020 at 8 AM —Businesses and nonprofits may submit applications to the County.
Friday, August 28, 2020 at 5 PM— Deadline for grant application submittals. Applications for the grant will not be accepted after this time.
Who qualifies?
• Small businesses and Section 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19) non-profit entity under the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
• Applicant was and/or is negatively impacted by COVID-19, including loss of revenue and other eligible business interruption losses
• Applicants must have less than 100 employees to be considered, unless engaged in the tourism industry
• Applicants must be a for-profit business or eligible nonprofits headquartered and operated in Bedford County
• Applicants that received funds from any other source under the CARES Act including but not limited to funds received under the Paycheck Protection Program, or the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program are eligible to receive funds under this program, however, priority will be given to applicants that did not receive such funds.
Documentation needed For Application
All entities must provide gross monthly revenues for March, April, May, June and July of 2019 and 2020 and documentation such as invoices, sales registers, or any other documentation that demonstrates losses associated with the impact of Covid-19.

- Completed W-9
- Most recent federal tax return
- Sole Proprietorship
- 2018 or 2019 Schedule C
Eligible Non-Profit Businesses will also need the following documents as a .pdf file:
- IRS determination letter
- Most recent financial statement
- Most recent annual report.
